Walking with the Woodman!
For one reason or another it's been a while since I made it to a Singers Night at the Woodman Folk Club. So, it was great to be there last Friday and enjoy a feast of musical (and poetic) talent! Most of us were local but Dom, a young man from Southampton, thrilled us all with his brilliant guitar playing and excellent vocal. One to watch as they say!
I covered 'A Thousand Years Today' by Paul Metsers and 'My Skies' by James Keelaghan. Both songs invite us to walk in someone else's shoes, 'so-to-speak', gaining a different perspective on our place in the world. As it happened, other songs during the evening included references to pilgrimage/ walking the road of life. Paul & Sue Matthews performed a lovely new one about the Camino de Santiago, the subject of a recent BBC TV series 'Pilgrimage', walked recently by a friend of theirs.
